Sahur/Sahar: The pre-dawn meal eaten before starting the fast. The pre-dawn meal is blessed, so do not neglect it even only if you only took a sip of water. Verily, Allah and his angels pray for those who had the pre-dawn meals.
Niyyah: It is important to make Niyyah (intention of fasting) on every fasting day, and it is recommended to say the following statement "Bisawmi ghadin nawaytu min shahri Ramadan" (I Intend to keep the fast of this day from the month of Ramadan) .
The prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: "Whoever does not intend to fast before day-break, there is no fast for him."
(Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud, Nasai)
Iftar: Breaking of the fast in the evening, after sunset, at exactly a certain time. one should hasten to break the fast in time. At Iftar, the following Du'a is recited, "Allahummah inni laka sumtu wa bika aamantu wa 'alaika tawak-kaltu wa 'alaa rizqika aftartu fataqabbal minni" (Oh Allah, I kept fast for you and I believe in you and I put my trust in you and I break my fast with food provided by you).
Things that DO NOT make the fast invalid:
